Siddaramaiah only cares for Muslim appeasement, not Hindus: BJP's Malavika Avinash

Actor and BJP leader Malavika Avinash launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accusing him of Muslim appeasement and “not caring about the Hindu majority“ in the lead up to the Assembly elections in 2018.
Criticising the state government’s Shaadi Bhagya scheme and efforts to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, the actor and politician accused the ruling Congress of resorting to divisive politics based on caste and community. “Muslim appeasement has been their core strategy for decades and Siddaramaiah has taken it a step further with the Shaadi Bhagya scheme for Muslim brides,” said Malavika Avinash.
The Shaadi Bhagya scheme was a scheme started by the state government to provide financial assistance for Muslim women for their marriage. It later expanded to include Christian, Sikh and Parsi women.
She also slammed the state government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti by saying it is no different to celebrating Ajmal Kasab, the 26/11 terrorist.
“No surprise if Siddaramaiah celebrates Kasab too for Muslim votes,” she said before adding that the Parivartana Yatra was denied permission in Coorg. “With that Siddaramaiah showed that he could sacrifice democracy for Tipu Sultan,” she added.
With months to go for Assembly elections in Karnataka, political parties in the state have already begun canvassing for votes. The opposition BJP party was the first to make a move by launching a 75-day ‘Parivartana Yatra’ in the state on November 2. The yatra is travelling across Karnataka, organising public rallies to mobilise support for the party.
Her statement comes a day after her party colleague and Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Anant Kumar Hegde sarcastically suggested that the Congress government will now celebrate terrorists like Ajmal Kasab and Osama Bin Laden. “Today, they will celebrate Tipu Jayanti, then Hyder Ali, then Afzal Guru, Ajmal Kasab and Bin Laden,” he said speaking at the Parivartana Yatra in Kundapur.

Malavika Avinash also came down heavily on the spate of murders of RSS and BJP activists in the last four years. “Siddaramaiah has made Karnataka a place like Pinarayi Vijayan’s Kerala, where Hindus and nationalists feel unsafe”, she said.
In March this year, a BJP worker was hacked to death on the outskirts of Bengaluru while in October last year, an RSS member and ex-BJP secretary R Rudresh was hacked to death in broad daylight in the heart of the city. Both killings lead to protests by BJP and its affiliate groups in the state.
